The London Tea Room @ 1900 Locust St.

We are pleased to announce that we have moved to the Hupmobile Building in the Downtown West neighborhood. We are less than two blocks away from the new football (aka soccer) stadium, and we hope that you can join us for tea before or after a match!

Expanded Afternoon Tea Service

There are a lot of changes that we’re making to provide a greatly improved and expanded tea service. Here are the most important things to know:

  • Reservations are highly recommended. We can seat walk-ins if availability allows, but please consider making a reservation before visiting us as we may not be able to seat you without one.

  • We offer a two-tier prix fixe menu that is charged per-person. The higher tier is Afternoon Tea, and the lower tier is High Tea. We also have Wee Tea available for children. Each guest is required to order one of these menu options.

  • High Tea is on the menu. Focused exclusively on savoury delights, high tea makes an excellent lunchtime meal.

  • Cream Tea is available on weekdays only. This classic light meal focuses on the basics: a pot of tea with a scone, clotted cream, and jam.

  • We no longer offer our café service. Items such as our quiche will be missed, but we hope that you enjoy our new menu.

St. Louis’s Newest Event Space

We can now host private events for up to 250 guests! With three rooms that can be rented individually or together we can become the right fit for your event.

You don’t have to do tea, either – you can work with one of our catering partners to create the right meal for your event.

More Loose Leaf Tea, Teapots, Mugs, & Gifts

We’re still the source of all of your favourite loose leaf teas, including the Naughty Vicar!

Our retail section is even bigger, with more space for all of the tea accessories and gifts that we’re known for.

We’re aiming to make shopping even more comfortable with a truly dedicated retail section. You can take your time and not feel rushed as you browse our shelves.

About the Move

It was incredibly important for us to support the continued revitalization of the City of St. Louis, which is why we decided to move to Downtown West. It is a homecoming as we started about one-third of a mile away. Growing up in England, the center of the village, town, and city was always the heart of the community.

We knew that we wanted to be in a historic building, as our previous two locations were in buildings constructed in the 19th century. Our first location was in the Ely Walker Building, which had once been a textile factory and warehouse. Our second location was in the Hyde Park Beer Building, a neighborhood brewery and tavern (what we today would call a microbrewery). Our new location is in the Hupmobile Building, which was was built in 1897 and used as an automobile dealership through the 1930s for a variety of now defunct car manufacturers, most notably Hupmobile.
